Big shout out to Rose Khan for all the excellent art, the time put in, and the enthusiasm.

Thanks so much Wes Paugh for sticking through the last bit of crunch!

So much love for Redbottle Design for making this game a reality!

We’ve decided to take another day to fix up some last remaining features, and to polish and play-test the game.

In exchange, I humbly offer you some screenshots!

So if anyone asks why our git repo for the game is sitting on my desktop in the new office, I hope this image explains everything.

This is not an excuse for anyone to burn the new office down! I back everything up on my phone every night! (For the most part.)

Lots of work, and yet so much to be done!

We’re all very optimistic about hitting the deadline!

And for your patronage, here’s some screenshots!

Mini Pirates!

In the little amount of free time that I have, I make video games. Yes, I take breaks from making video games to make video games.

This game was made for LD26 and took about 4 hours to make. I am sad that I was not able to spend more time on this game, but am happy that I could participate regardless!

We’re in the final stretch; all hail the Minimal Viable Product!

Rose is getting a lot of the final art assets in, and the game is looking really great.

Some things that have happened since we last talked;

  • Most of the items are now functional
  • An inventory system has been put into place
  • New ship graphics have been pushed into the game
  • The universe is now randomly generated and created.
  • Death screen has quotes from each race
  • Nebula has random color every game
  • Credits screen has been made and has lots of crazy people.
  • Fonts have been introduced
  • Added a main menu system
  • Added neutral player portraits.

A sneak peak at a good portion of the item system!

I think I might have forgotten to ask for some assets. I wonder what they were?

Anyway, mid-day update; the item system is coming along great!

Got the game working on windows with an Xbox controller! This was trickier than you would think. Much love to @bartbes for the x-input Lua module and to Boolsheet for building the x-input dependencies!

Starfire Lords: Genesis

We have all decided on a name! The game will be; Starfire Lords: Genesis.

Since adding advanced parallaxing, a bunch of stuff has been done;

  • Controllers now work on all OS’s (Not just Linux and OS X)
  • Rebalance of ships
    • Three Races
    • House of Armn - Better shields, weaker hull.
    • Gardo Corporation - Even shields.
    • X03:2 - No Shields, Weak (non-playable race).
  • Three ship classes
    • Small - High damage and speed, low fire rate. These are small precision fighters.
    • Medium - Even across the board.
    • Large - Low damage and speed, high fire rate. These are massive spam-mobiles.
  • Added easy set up for “Deathmatch” and “Cooperative Survival”
  • Removed corgis
  • Set home desktop wallpaper to corgis in space.

About Seppi

Howdy; my name's Seppi, and I'm an indie game developer. I am an active member of the LÖVE community. I've been making games for years now, and I'm always interested in helping prospective indie developers out.

One of the paradoxes I've learned over the years, especially as a software developer, is the more I know, the more I realize I don't know. I quote;

Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.
